Veteran of four Planet of the Apes films, Roddy McDowall once again doned the costume of a chipanzee to play the role of the sypathetic Galen in the television series. Galen accompanies stranded astronauts Burke & Virdon through the post apocalyptic planet of the apes, relying on his friends & contacts in distant cities to help them escape the clutches of Chief of Security Urko.
Roddy McDowall's career as an actor began in the 1938 film Yellow Sands at the age of ten. Most reknown for his role as Octavian in 1963's Cleopatra, McDowall's career spans 60 years, ending, sadly, with his death in 1998 from cancer.
Ron Harper plays the optomistic astronaut Alan Virdon. Always the one looking on the bright side of things, Virdon attacks problems by setting right down and figuring out what needs to be done, without wasting any time. His outdoorsman and craftsmanship skills make MacGyver look like a Tiger Cub Scout.
Ron Harper began his acting career after graduating from Princton University. An understudy to Paul Newman, Harper regularly appeared in numerous television series including, but not exclusive to, Garrison's Gorillas, The Jean Arthur Show, 87th Precinct, and Land of the Lost. He has guest starred on shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, Dragnet, F.B.I., Dynasty, and Thriller.
James Naughton plays the volatile Peter Burke, an astronaut stranded on the planet of the apes. Although very intelligent, Burke has can have a nasty temper if you push his buttons the wrong way. Burke has little tolerance for the bigotry that runs rampant in his new home.
Born right in my backyard (Middletown, CT), James Naughton graduated from Yale's School of Drama in 1970. A regular on "Who's the Boss", Naughton also had a role in 1996's popular film The First Wives Club. He also co-starred with Mary Tyler Moore on "Who's Line is it Anyways" in 1980.
